General#
Do I need an account?
No. PinchPDF works in your browser without sign-up. Credits, if you buy them later, belong to this browser; signing in with Google is optional and only moves your wallet to another device.
Is it free? What are the limits?
Yes. On the free tier each file can be up to 100 MB and 500 pages. You get 5 free credits every day (enough for one Recommended compression of up to 20 pages). Merge, split, organize and image tools are free for files up to 20 MB / 100 pages. Up to 3 files at a time (10 with credits, 20 with Pro). Credits raise the limit to 200 MB and 2000 pages per file.
When do I pay, and for what?
Only after you have seen what you get. The estimated size and a preview of your own page appear before anything is charged, and you only pay for files you receive: if a file can’t get smaller you get the original back free, and a size target that can’t be reached costs nothing.
How long do you keep my files?
Files are deleted automatically 24 hours after processing on the free tier, 3 days with credits and 7 days with Pro. You can press “Delete now” at any time, or keep a file 30 days for 2 credits. Only you can download files from your results page, unless you create a share link yourself (up to 24 hours or until the file is deleted, and you can revoke it). Files are never sent by email.
Can I compress a digitally signed PDF?
Not the signed file itself. Compressing changes the file’s bytes, so a digital signature would become invalid. Compress before signing, and keep signed originals as they are. If you only need a copy for viewing, you can opt in to an unsigned copy that is clearly marked on every page.
What happens with digitally signed PDFs?
Anything that rewrites a PDF breaks its digital signature, so signed files are flagged when you add them and are left unchanged. If you only need a copy to read or archive, you can opt in to an unsigned copy. It is marked on every page and does not replace your signed original.
Compressing PDFs#
Will compression blur stamps or signatures?
Not at the Recommended level. Text and digits stay crisp, and red stamps and ink signatures keep their color. Before you download, drag the comparison slider over a crop of your own page and zoom in to check the small print.
How much smaller will my PDF get?
It depends on what is inside. Scanned pages and photos leave the most room; PDFs made of text are already compact and shrink less. Rather than promise a percentage, the tool estimates the size of your own file at each level before you run anything.
How do I compress a PDF to under 1 MB, 2 MB or 5 MB?
Choose Custom size and type the limit, or tap one of the quick sizes. You see whether it fits before you start. If one file can’t get under the limit, you can take the smallest version or split it into parts that each fit.
What if my PDF can’t get any smaller?
You get the original back and nothing is charged. This happens with files that are already well optimized. If a custom size can’t be reached, you pay nothing and can still take the smallest version or split the file.
Other tools#
How many PDFs can I merge at once?
Up to 3 files per job for free, 10 with credits and 20 with Pro. Each file can be up to 20 MB and 100 pages for free; bigger files cost a few credits, shown before you run.
Will merging lower the quality?
No. Pages are copied without re-compression, so the merged file looks exactly like the inputs. If you need it smaller afterwards, compress the merged file as a separate step and check the preview.
What are the bookmarks for?
With “Create bookmarks from file names” on, the merged PDF gets an outline with one entry per original file. Readers can jump straight to, say, the certificate or the annex instead of scrolling through every page.
Can I merge PDFs on my phone?
Yes. The tool runs in the mobile browser: pick the files from your phone’s storage, set the order and download the result. It also works inside the browsers built into chat apps, though a full browser is more reliable for downloads.
How do I extract only some pages?
Choose Extract selected pages and type the pages you want, for example 2-4,7. Only those pages end up in one new PDF; the rest of the document is left out.
Can I split every page into its own file?
Yes. Choose Every N pages and enter 1. You get one PDF per page, numbered in order, and can download them all in one ZIP.
Does splitting reduce quality?
No. Pages are copied as they are, so text and images look the same as in the original. Use Compress PDF if you also need smaller files.
What is the difference between ranges and extracting?
Ranges cut the document into several files, one per range. Extract collects the listed pages into a single new file. Use ranges to separate documents and extract to keep only what you need.
Is my file uploaded while I edit?
No. Thumbnails are drawn on your device. The file is uploaded only when you press Apply changes, and the result is deleted automatically afterwards.
Can I rotate a single page?
Yes. Every thumbnail has its own rotate and delete buttons, so you can turn one sideways page without changing the others.
Can I undo a deleted page?
Yes, until you apply. Deleted pages stay visible as thumbnails and can be restored with one tap. After applying, simply start again from your original file, which is never changed.
Can I add pages from another PDF?
Not in this tool. Combine the files with Merge PDF first, then open the merged file here to put every page in the right place.
Do the images lose quality?
No. JPG images are embedded unchanged and PNG images keep their full quality. The PDF looks exactly like your photos; compress it afterwards only if it is too big to upload.
Which formats are supported?
JPG/JPEG and PNG. Photos in other formats, such as HEIC from some phones, need to be saved or shared as JPG first; most phones can do that from the share menu.
How many images can I convert for free?
Up to 20 images per PDF for free. Larger jobs cost a few credits, and the price is shown before you run anything.
Can I put two photos on one page?
Not at the moment: each image becomes its own page. For both sides of an ID card, add the front and the back as two images; they end up as two consecutive pages in one PDF.
Can I convert only one page?
Yes. Enter the page numbers you want, for example 1 or 2-3. Leave the field empty to export every page.
Does it work with digitally signed PDFs?
Yes. Converting to images only reads the file, so signed files are not blocked. The images show the signature but are not themselves signed documents.
Why does 300 dpi cost more?
A 300 dpi image has four times as many pixels as a 150 dpi one, so it takes more work and produces much larger files. Choose it only when the image will be printed or zoomed into.
How do I get the images on my phone?
Download the ZIP and open it from your phone’s Files app, which unpacks it into a folder of images. From there you can save them to your gallery or share them.
