    How it works

    How to split a PDF

    1. Drop your PDF

Add the document you want to split, from your computer or your phone.

    2. Choose how to split

Pick page ranges, every N pages, a maximum size per part, or extract selected pages into one new file.

    3. Enter the details

Type ranges such as 1-3,5, the number of pages per part, or the maximum MB per part.

    4. Download the parts

Get each part separately, or all of them in one ZIP from your results page.

    Why it’s different

    Four ways to split

    By page range or extract

Cut the document at the ranges you type, or pull out just the listed pages into one new PDF.

    Every N pages

Turn a long scan into equal chunks in one go, for example one file per two-page form.

    By maximum size

Each part stays under the size you set, so every file fits an upload form or email.

    Good to know

Which split mode should I use?

Use page ranges when you know where each document starts, for example pages 1-3 are the contract and 4-6 the annex. Use Extract selected pages when you only need a few pages out of a long file and want them together in one new PDF.

Use Every N pages for batches of same-length documents, such as a stack of two-page forms scanned in one go. Use By maximum size when the goal is an upload limit rather than a particular page.

How do I split a PDF for an upload limit?

Choose By maximum size and enter the limit per file, for example 5 MB. Every part is kept under that size and pages are copied as they are, so nothing gets blurrier. If the form accepts only one file, compress it instead, or extract the pages it actually asks for.

    Does splitting reduce quality?

No. Pages are copied into the new files exactly as they are: same text, same images, same page size. The parts together are about as large as the original. If you also need smaller files, compress the parts afterwards.

How do I write page ranges?

Separate ranges with commas and use a hyphen for a run of pages: 1-3,5,8-10 means pages one to three, page five, and pages eight to ten. Page numbers refer to the position in the file, starting at 1, not to numbers printed on the pages.

    Split, then compress or merge

Splitting often sits in the middle of a job. Pull the pages a portal asks for out of a long scan, compress them if there is a size limit, or merge parts from different files into a new bundle. Because splitting never re-compresses pages, you can chain these steps without losing quality along the way.

    FAQ

    Frequently asked questions

How do I extract only some pages?

Choose Extract selected pages and type the pages you want, for example 2-4,7. Only those pages end up in one new PDF; the rest of the document is left out.

Can I split every page into its own file?

Yes. Choose Every N pages and enter 1. You get one PDF per page, numbered in order, and can download them all in one ZIP.

    Does splitting reduce quality?

No. Pages are copied as they are, so text and images look the same as in the original. Use Compress PDF if you also need smaller files.

What is the difference between ranges and extracting?

Ranges cut the document into several files, one per range. Extract collects the listed pages into a single new file. Use ranges to separate documents and extract to keep only what you need.

What happens with digitally signed PDFs?

Anything that rewrites a PDF breaks its digital signature, so signed files are flagged when you add them and are left unchanged. If you only need a copy to read or archive, you can opt in to an unsigned copy. It is marked on every page and does not replace your signed original.

Is it free? What are the limits?

Yes. This tool is free for files up to 20 MB and 100 pages, up to 3 files at a time. Bigger files cost a small number of credits, shown before you run anything. No sign-up is needed.
